The 2027 date sheet is not out yet
PECTAA releases the schedule a few weeks before the papers begin. Both class pages above show the usual paper order now, and we fill in the real dates the day the official notification is published.
What the 2026 cycle looked like
2026 examinations
Grade 5: written papers began on 9 February 2026.
Grade 8: papers were held between 16 and 24 February 2026.
Results: Grade 5 and Grade 8 results were announced together in April 2026.
How to read a date sheet
The paper order
Read it top to bottom. Each row is one paper, with its subject, the day of the week, the calendar date and the reporting time. Language papers usually come first, followed by Mathematics and the science and social subjects.
Reporting time
Papers are held in the morning. The reporting time on your roll number slip is the time to be seated, not the time to arrive — plan to reach the centre at least 30 minutes early.
Gap days
The timetable leaves one or more free days between papers so students can revise. A gap day is not a holiday from preparation; use it for the next subject.
If two papers clash
The Grade 5 and Grade 8 schedules are designed so that a candidate never sits two papers on the same day. If your slip shows a real clash, tell your school and the board office well before the exams begin so it can be corrected.
On the day of the paper
Centres are strict about what you may bring in. Pack the night before so nothing is forgotten.
- Roll number slip — the original, plus a photo of it on a parent's phone as backup.
- Stationery in a clear bag — blue or black ballpoint pens, pencils, an eraser, a sharpener and a ruler.
- A geometry box for the Mathematics paper if your syllabus needs one.
- Leave phones and smart watches at home — they are not allowed inside the hall, even switched off.
- Arrive 30 minutes early in school uniform, and check the seating list before the first bell.
