Who registers a student
The school does, not the family. Every government and registered private school in Punjab has a login for the IBS portal — the Item Bank System, PECTAA's online platform for exam management. The school enters each Grade 5 and Grade 8 candidate on the portal within the dates the authority announces. Parents cannot register a child directly, but they should give the school correct documents and then confirm the details were entered properly.
How school registration works
The school logs in to IBS
Using its institution code and password, the school opens the registration section for the current exam session.
Candidate details are entered
For each student: name, father's name, date of birth, B-Form (NADRA child registration) number, gender, class and the list of subjects.
Centre and bank preferences
The school lists a few preferred exam centres and a bank branch for the fee. The board assigns the final centre.
The list is checked and signed
The headmaster or principal reviews the full candidate list, signs it and applies the school stamp.
Fee paid and forms submitted
The fee is deposited at the designated bank, and the signed list plus the paid challan are submitted to the board before the deadline.
The B-Form number matters
The child's NADRA B-Form number ties the registration to a verified identity and is used later on the result card. Give the school a clear copy, and check that every digit was entered correctly.
What parents should do
- Hand the school a clear copy of the B-Form and, if asked, the parent's CNIC.
- Write the child's name and father's name exactly as they should appear on the certificate.
- Ask the school for a printout of the submitted entry and check every field.
- Keep the paid fee challan safe until the roll number slip arrives.
Registration dates
There is no fixed calendar date — registration opens after PECTAA publishes the session schedule, usually around the middle of the year for spring exams. Deadlines are sometimes extended, especially for Grade 8.
2026–27 cycle, for reference
Registration on the IBS portal ran through the summer of 2026. The Grade 8 deadline was later extended into August 2026. Treat this as a guide to the timing, not a fixed rule — always follow the notification for your session.
Private and out-of-school candidates
Because the exams are school-based, candidates are entered by a registered institution. A child who is home-schooled or between schools should not be left out — contact the District Education Authority office, which can advise how to attach the candidate to a school or centre for the exam.
Fees
The registration fee is set by the board for each session and is normally paid at a designated bank branch, not online. The amount is small compared with private exam fees, and it covers registration, the roll number slip and the result. Your school will confirm the exact figure and the bank details when registration opens.
