How to check your PECTAA 5th or 8th class result

Three ways to check a result

All three methods read from the same board records, so they show the same marks. Pick whichever is easiest for you.

1. By roll number

   The quickest way. You need the roll number from the roll number slip, the class (Grade 5 or Grade 8) and the exam year.

2. By name

   For when the slip is lost. You enter the student's full name and father's name, then narrow it down by school and district.

3. From the school gazette

   Every school receives a complete result sheet for its candidates. The school office or class teacher can look up any student.

Checking by roll number

Open the result page for your board and class, type the roll number, choose the year and search. A result card appears with the student's name, school, subject-wise marks or grades, and the overall result.

Checking by name

If you do not have the slip, use the name search. Enter the student's name and father's name exactly as they were written on the school admission form — spelling and word order matter. Then select the school and district to find the right record among students with similar names.

Using the school gazette

The gazette is the official list the board sends to each school after results are declared. It shows every candidate from that school with full marks. If the online result is unclear or missing, the gazette is the record to rely on, and your school can print a copy for you.

Choose your board

Punjab is divided into nine divisional boards. Your board is the one your district belongs to. Pick your class, then your board.

Making sense of the marks

The result card lists each subject with the marks obtained, and an overall grade or percentage. A student needs at least 33% in every subject to be marked "Pass". Grades usually run from A+ down to E, based on the percentage across all papers.

If one subject is below the pass mark, the overall result shows which paper needs to be repeated in the supplementary exam. The rest of the subjects are carried forward, so only the failed paper is taken again.

If the result is not a pass

A "Fail" in one or two subjects is not the end of the year. PECTAA holds a supplementary examination later in the year for exactly this situation. The student sits only the papers they missed, and a pass there gives a full result.

"Result not found" — a quick checklist

• Re-type the roll number digit by digit, straight from the slip.
• Check the class — Grade 5 and Grade 8 are separate searches.
• Check the exam year — last year's result will not show under this year.
• Try the name search as a cross-check.
• Still nothing? Ask your school to confirm your registration with the board office.

When are results announced?

Results come near the end of the exam cycle, a few weeks after the last paper.

1. Examinations end
   The last paper is sat across all boards.
2. Marking and tabulation
   Papers are marked and results are compiled board by board.
3. Result declared
   Grade 5 and Grade 8 results are usually announced together — in April for the 2026 cycle.
4. Gazette and result cards
   Sent to schools for distribution to candidates.
5. Supplementary exam
   Held later in the year for students who missed the pass mark in a subject.
