What the 8th class roll number slip is
It is the document a Grade 8 candidate must bring to sit the paper. Without it, the invigilator may not let the student into the hall. The board generates it once a school's registration is accepted, and it links the student to a specific seat at a specific centre.
What is printed on it
- Roll number — the number used to look up the Grade 8 result later.
- Student's name and father's name, date of birth and B-Form number.
- The Grade 8 subjects the student is registered for — the core six plus any elective.
- Exam centre — the name and address of the building where papers are held.
- Reporting time, the school's name and code, and the headmaster's signature and stamp.
How to get it
The board prints the slips
After a school's Grade 8 registration is accepted on the IBS portal, the board generates a slip for every candidate.
The school receives them
Slips reach schools a week or two before the first paper, with the seating and centre details.
Students collect from school
The exam coordinator hands them out. Check the details on the spot and raise any mistake immediately.
Some boards allow a reprint from the portal
A few divisional boards let schools reprint a slip from their portal, and occasionally publish a candidate download near the exams. When your board offers this for Grade 8, the link appears on the notification — and here.
Check these details before the exam
- Name and father's name spelled exactly as on the school records.
- Date of birth and B-Form number correct, digit for digit.
- Every registered subject listed — including the right elective, if any.
- Centre address and reporting time — do a practice trip if the centre is unfamiliar.
If the slip is lost
Do not leave it until exam morning. Go to the school office and ask for a duplicate — schools can reprint a Grade 8 candidate's slip from the board's system. Take the duplicate to the centre with the school's confirmation. Keeping a clear photo of the original from the start avoids this entirely.
